April Favourites

Hey guys, so this month I have plenty of products I have been loving and can’t wait to share them with you all. I’ve made a few purchases recently but now I’m trying to save! I’m also trying to focus on better skincare, as I feel my skin is in a transitioning period at the moment. Of course I’ll share the products I’m loving with you guys. More on that later, for now, these are my April Favourites.

Clockwise from left:

Pommade Divine Remedy Balm: I  received this little gem in my Birchbox. It is a natural, multi-purpose healing balm which can be used on a variety of skin ailments. I have using it on my lips and hands and can definitely notice a difference. Plus is perfectly hand-bag sized! Win win.

Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil: This has been my hair saviour this month. Use 2-3 pumps and smooth over towel-dried hair. Frizz, be gone!

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara: Well, what can I say?! This has been my go-to mascara since it was released. It lengthens and volumises, and its non-clumpy. I think this mascara is the only one I’ve used that really gives that “false lash” effect.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser: I received this award-winning cleanser in my Birchbox this month and it is GOLD. Containing naturally active ingredients such as rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus oil, this rich cleanser removes all traces of make up and daily dirt and grime. It leaves my skin so soft and moisturised too. The Cleanse and Polish is a 2 Step cleanser. Firstly, massage gently onto dry skin. Then, use a warm dampened muslin cloth (provided) to gently polish off the cleanser. Use morning and night, and follow up with your favourite toner and moisturiser.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat: I bought this peachy pink blush along with the Lighting Palette. These products are extra finely milled, and give the most natural, beautiful glow to skin. These are currently my everyday staples.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette: I was so excited to get this palette. It contains three powders:

  • Dim Light: A natural, peachy beige tone powder for all over setting power.
  • Incandescent Light (limited to the palette): This opal-toned powder is used as a highlighter. Dust along cheekbones, collarbone, and anywhere else you want to glow.
  • Radiant Light: This dark beige tone gives skin a sunkissed glow Victoria’s Secret would be jealous of. Use this as a subtle bronzer, and apply where the sun will naturally hit your face.

Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in Soft Almond: I bought this during my recent Primark haul, but I forgot to upload it! This lipgloss is smooth, moisturising and non-sticky which I love. Its definitely one of my favourite lipglosses.

Lord & Berry Kohl Liner in Black: This is another Birchbox product. I use this liner along my upper and lower waterline. It’s highly pigmented, long lasting and hardly smudges. I think I’ve used this most days this month!

Have you guys got any of these products? Let me know in the comments what you think, and share your favourites with me! If you’re on Instagram, come join me at the_sleepless_beauty. I look forward to hearing from you guys! Xo

April Birchbox

Well girls, this month’s Birchbox seemed to take forever to arrive, I just couldn’t wait! The April Birchbox has some lovely products and I think I will get great use out of all of them. Below are more details, leave me some feedback in the comments!

Clockwise from the top:

Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Violet: I’m not usually one for coloured liners, but I love Laura Mercier and was excited to try this. I used this recently for a burlesque show I was performing in. I applied it along my lower lash line with a purple eye pigment and Inglot’s Duraline. My make up was super pigmented and lasted all night, I loved it!

BeFine Warming Clay Mask: This lovely, freshly scented mask was the beauty bonus this month. I’m pretty sure I used this the day I received it, as I was due some much-needed pampering. This came as a single use mask, which you smooth onto damp skin and then leave for 5-10 mins. The mask warms up as you apply it to your skin, and contains antioxidants such as pomegranate, to detoxify the skin.

Pommade Divine Nature’s Remedy Balm: Think Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream! This multi-purpose balm is a great all rounder and handbag necessity. It’s 97% natural and can be applied to any troublesome areas as needed. I’ve used it on chapped lips, scrapes and dry hands. A little bit really goes a long way. I think this is one product to watch, and could very well acquire cult beauty status!

Percy and Reed London Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil: Quite a mouthful, I know. This is the must-have product by celebrity hairdressers Paul Percival and Adam Reed. I work this into my palms before applying to towel-dried hair. It doesn’t weigh my hair down or leave it oily. I’ve also applied it to dry hair if I seem to have an uncontrollable amount of flyaways.

Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Rambla: This gorgeous coral shade is great for summer. Apply a basecoat, followed by two coats of nail polish, and seal with a topcoat. Summer nail perfection.

Liz Earle Beauty Co Cleanse and Polish: This cult two-step cleanser leaves skin super clean and baby soft. Start by massaging cleanser onto face and neck, then use a warm dampened muslin cloth (provided) to buff away make up and day to day grime (pollution girls!). I have been converted!

I love this month’s Birchbox but I think my favourite product has got to be the Liz Earle Cleanser. What do you guys think? Are you subscribed to Birchbox? What did you get? Let me know! Xo

Hey ladies, I didn’t do a March Favourites post, as I didn’t think that I used or loved any new products during that month! I’m loving some at the moment though so keep tuned for an April Favourites! So instead, I thought I would share some products with you I purchased while I was in Dublin recently. A mini-haul if you will!

Firstly, I went to Penneys (known as Primark in the UK). I always love going in there as they have different products and clothes than Primark in the UK. Although I must admit, I just wanted to get my hands on some of these fab individual eyelashes! I noticed they have a bigger beauty section there too so I just grabbed loads of goodies! They also stock LA cosmetic company and US make up artist cheapy fave, Wet n Wild Cosmetics. Below are some of my beauty picks:

From left to right:

P.S Love Individual Eyelashes

Wet n Wild Lipstick in Mauve Outta Here

Wet n Wild Lipstick in Rosebud

P.S Love Lip Liner Pencil (not sure about colour)

P.S Love 3 Fashion Eyelashes in Glam, Volume, and Sexy

P.S Love Eyelashes in Double Trouble

I have to say I love every one of these products. I was so excited to get my hands on the two lipsticks, a girl’s lippie collection is ever growing! The lipliner is a very natural shade for my lip colour so its perfect for any nude lip look. I first started using the eyelashes at Christmas time when I got a few pairs in my stocking and have been converted. As you girls know, eyelashes can be quite expensive to purchase, especially if you wear them a lot and you’re a lash lover like me. These are super budget friendly and range from natural to dramatic looking. I like to wear the individuals either on their own for a more natural look, or stacked on other lashes for more impact on a night out.

Penneys also have a home section so I made a few purchases from there too:

From left to right:

Opia Scented Candle in Pink Grapefruit

Rose Gold Heart LED Lights

Opia Scented Candle in Vanilla

Oh my word guys, how super cute are those lights?! I love anything Rose Gold, and it being a trend right now makes it all the more accessible to me! My house is also filled with candles, and these smell gorgeous.

I then made a quick stop at Inglot, I only made a small purchase here as I didn’t know what to buy (dilemma!).

From left to right:

Inglot Soft Precision Lipliner in 74

Inglot Duraline

I’m loving this lipliner colour and goes perfectly with the Wet n Wild Mauve Outta Here, and also MAC Plumful. I have been wanting to try the Duraline for so long too and finally decided to get it while I was at Inglot.

Where do you like to buy your beauty necessities? Do you ever shop at Penneys/Primark? What do you think of these products, have you tried any of them? If you have any Inglot or other recommendations please let me know! Xo

Lush Easter Collection

Happy Easter everyone! A day usually spent with the family, devouring chocolate or spending some quality time together.  I stayed with my family this weekend, woke up early to a delicious brekkie, followed by a lovely hike and mini picnic after. Totally exhausted now so gonna have some burgers (very traditional I know), watch a movie and have a lushious bath (see what I did there?!).I absolutely adore Lush products, not only do they smell gorgeous and pamper your body and mind, they are ethical in the manufacturing of their products. If you haven’t tried any products yet I strongly suggest it!! I can’t recommend them enough!

These are my picks from the Lush Easter collection, clockwise from right:

Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb: Candyfloss scented pretty pinkness. Smells like the ever popular Snow Fairy.

Bunch of Carrots Reusable Bubble Bar: Hold under a running tap for a fresh, citrusy tropical bath.

Immaculate Eggception Bath Bomb: This bath bomb lasts for two – three baths. Its citrusy-vanilla scented, and contains a surprise inside!

Golden Eggs Bath Bomb Melt: Honey-toffee scented molten gold!

Pot O’ Gold Shower Jelly (pictured in centre): Caramel-scented solid shower gel; contains orange peel and pineapple juice for skin brightening properties. With added shimmer!

I can’t wait to have a bath tonight! Mostly because I don’t have a bath in my house, and these Lush goodies smell AH-mazing. What did you do today? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know! Xo

MAC Cinderella Collection Review

Hey guys, so recently I got my hands on the MAC Cinderella Collection. First of all, I know we all gotta appreciate that packaging?! I mean…wow. Make up and Disney both have a special place in my heart, so I love these collaborations. I had to go in store as everything had sold out online, these limited editions sell out so fast! I got the beauty powder in Mystery Princess  and the lipstick in Royal Ball. I also wanted the white eyegloss and pigment but unfortunately they were sold out. I’ve heard mixed reviews of this line, but I have to say I am happy with my purchases.

Beauty powder in Mystery Princess – a pinky champagne toned highlighting powder.  The other powder was more pink toned, so I decided to go with Mystery Princess as I had a pink toned highlighter already. I am using a powder brush with this product, and it does take a couple of strokes before it is really noticeable. Saying that, it is more effective on paler skin. It seems to show up well, even when I’m wearing tan.

Lipstick Lustre in Royal Ball  – lustre lipstick means it is quite sheer and slightly glossy, somewhat of a glow you might imagine.  It is a peachy pink tone and have found that this looks better when I am on the paler side. Currently I’m wearing this with MAC Kinda Sexy and NYX Buttergloss in Tiramisu which is a combo I’m loving right now! Pair it with lashes for day time or a smokey eye for night time.

All in all I’m quite please with these two products, what do you guys think? Have you tried these? And are you planning to see the Cinderella film? I know I am! Let me know! Xo

March Birchbox

Hey girls, this Month’s Birchbox came earlier this week and I couldn’t wait to unbox it. This month, have collaborated with Habitat to encourage everyone to “Do Try This At Home”, find more out here.  I received five beauty and two lifestyle products. I’m yet to try most of these, but I’ll let you girls know what I think when I do! I’ll take you through the products I got this month.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer: A “pre-shampoo treatment that restores suppleness and bounce to damaged tresses”. I’m yet to try this but can’t wait, I’ve heard some good things!

Lord & Berry Couture Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil: I tried this eyeliner tonight, and while it needed a couple of strokes, I’m pleased with the high pigment pay-off this eyeliner provides. And it has stayed in place, always a plus.

Benefit They’re Real! Masacara: Last month, subscribers had the option to choose which benefit mascara they would like to try in their March Birchbox. I chose They’re Real! mascara as it is my firm favourite, and I just couldn’t say no to a mini handbag sized version!

Whish Three Wishes Lavender Body Butter: I haven’t tried this yet but it smells gorgeous and so relaxing. Definitely saving this for a sleepy pamper night.

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris: This citrusy, fruity scent is perfect for day time. This is a Birchbox exclusive!

A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi: This is an “epic tale of ambition, ego and passion with the beauty industry as its backdrop”. This little read is good for breaktime boredom, or even during to the commute to or from work or school. Put the phone down every once in a while guys.

Birchbox & Habitat Exclusive Notebook: Perfectly petite, this little notebook fits snugly into pockets and even the smallest of handbags. Ideal for jotting down blogging ideas.

Did you receive any of these products? Or have you tried any of them? Let me know! Xo

February Favourites

Hey ladies, sorry bit late with this. This is my first favourites post and I’m really excited to share these products I have been loving with you. I have five products to share with you guys this month, three of them skincare. I love skincare almost as much as make up! Just the love the fresh and luxurious feeling great products give you. Well without further adieu, here are my February Favourites:

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting – This little gem was in my February Birchbox and I have been loving it. I apply it after cleansing and toning my skin in the morning and evening, before applying my moisturiser. I have seen a great improvement in my skin, notably it seems to have evened out my skin tone and my skin also looks and feel much more hydrated. So far, so good.

L’Oreal Skin Perfection Anti-Fatigue Perk Up Cream – I recently picked this up in a drug store as I have been seeing a lot of reviews and promotion for this range, so thought I would try it for myself. I have been using this as my daytime moisturiser, as it contains SPF20 (always a pro for a day cream in my eyes). The texture is creamy but light and does not leave any greasy residue on the skin, as I have found with some day creams which contain SPF. Be warned as this is a tinted cream (comes out of the tube white, then the tint changes to your skin tone).  It can worn on its own or under make up, and can be reapplied during the day as needed and I haven’t noticed any patchiness, which can sometimes happen! I think this a great all round product and would be lovely and light for the summer months, or no make up days.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – I’ve been using this product for a little while now. It contains essential oils and botanicals and smells absolutely lovely, and also reminds me of a spa trip, which is always a bonus! I use this oil instead of a night cream, and apply to my skin while it’s still slightly damp after toning, or straight after applying a serum. The lid contains a dropper, and you literally only need two drops. Squeeze the drops onto your palm (always make sure your hands are clean), pat onto both hands and then pat gently onto face. This is not to be used around the eye area; the girl in the shop gave me a little sample of the eye cream to try which was simply lovely too. In case you’re wondering, I have oily skin (combination in winter). As this is a dry oil, I haven’t found that it makes me skin any oilier. In fact, it has worked wonderfully alongside the Caudalie Serum to make my skin super soft and supple. A little goes a long way!

Lush The Kiss Lip Scrub – This limited edition lip scrub is sherberty goodness! It smells like the retro sweet, and tastes a little bit of it too. This little product states that it gives you Hollywood kisses, and while I’m no Kylie Jenner, it definitely make my lips soft and super kissable (I hope!). I use this once a week, and only need to use a tiny bit.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Perfume – This decadent “glam rock fragrance full of mystery and energy”, as per yslbeauty, was released last year and it has been my go-to perfume. This floral scent contains notes of black coffee, white florals, and vanilla. I love this fragrance, in my opinion it smells very sensual and luxurious!

Have you guys tried any of these products? And what do you think of them? Let me know in the comments! Xo
